Homeopathy is more than a system of alternative medicine. To a clinician that utilizes the concepts and philosophy of homeopathy, it must be understood that a state of harmony exists between the organ systems of the human body, nature, and the person as a whole dynamic entity (mental, physical, and spiritual). This state of harmony is called “health” or the absence of disease. In a healthy state we have, as yet unexplained, a vital life force that animates us while we are alive. This vital life force has the curative power to keep us healthy. Homeopathy is concerned with stimulating the vital force when a person is in a so-called “sick” state or is suffering from some “dis-ease.” Symptoms are, in a sense, a language that the body uses to express its disharmony and is, generally speaking, a call for help. Sometimes the body heals by itself. Many times acute problems resolve with little need for intervention. Chronic issues are another story and are more complicated. Many chronic diseases or issues will not improve on their own. Recovery will not occur if left untreated. Helping patients with chronic diseases is the essence of homeopathy. Homeopathy has a rich history of helping patients with chronic diseases for hundreds of years throughout the world.
Homeopathy is safe and accepted by the FDA. Therefore, homeopathic supplements are allowed to be used in America. Some homeopathic supplements are listed in the PDR (Physicians Desk Reference). Homeopathic supplements are non-prescription and are made from natural substances that are designed to stimulate the natural healing of the patient and are not designed to suppress symptoms like many allopathic medications (prescription or non-prescription). Carefully chosen supplements will tend to have old symptoms reoccur in the healing process. This “bringing out” of all symptoms can be very beneficial to the healing outcome of the patient because it can mean that healing has started. Homeopathy can be an excellent adjunct to helping acute and chronic issues in children and adults—if carefully chosen supplements or remedies are used.
